Ordered as Sitmar FairMajesty at Chantiers de l'Atlantique St. Nazaire (now part of Aker Yards - interior design by Welton Becket & Associates), Ocean Village was actually launched as Star Princess of Princess Cruises due to the interim purchase of Sitmar Line by P&O Princess in 1988. During an Alaska cruise in 1995 the ship (as Star Princess) ran aground and encountered significant damage. For more information on this incident see the NTSB Marine Accident Report. In 1997 the vessel was transferred to P&O becoming Arcadia(3). Photos of her time with P&O are found at www.seapixonline.com and in the photo section of www.cruisepage.com: Interior Views - Exterior Views.
In 2003 the vessel was transferred to Ocean Village Holidays. For the new role the vessel underwent a refit at the Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven. For photos of the interior after the refit go to this page of Lloyd Werft.
For photos, postcards and more information on the history of this vessel go to Simplon Postcards or Fakta om Fartyg.
