Atlantis II was built in 1963 as research vessel by the Maryland Shipbuilding and Drydock Company in Baltimore, MD, for the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI). To learn more about her history read this news release of WHOI on her retirement as research vessel in 1996.
After a ten year lay-up Atlantis II has been rebuilt as a yacht.
The video on this page shows her first arrival in Woods Hole since she left the WHOI fleet. You can learn more about the vessel and her second maiden voyage from this diary and this article at www.thebahamasweekly.com.
